A New Dresser for Elaina!

My sweet Elaina is growing up - as she tells me, she is "not baby, she a big girl."  So it was time to move the changing table out of her room - and get a dresser for her clothes since we're no longer able to fit dozens of tiny outfits in a small bin.  So, we hit up Construction Junction thinking we could find something on the cheap.  SCORE!  We found this solid wood dresser - camp/cabin-style, for $45.  It's perfect for a 2 year old's room because it's SOLID and hard to tip.  And because the drawers are not on wheels - so it will be harder for her to open/shut and close them on her little fingers.

We also found this awesome framey-type thing.  When I saw it, I thought- that would be great to put above the dresser.  So we bought them both and my husband set to work.

We still had some lavender paint left which we used on 2 of the walls in her room.  So he used it to accent the drawers on the dresser and (this was his idea!) to accent the openings on the decorative piece.  Wow, good detail work!

I was so glad that the small framed animal art pieces I had made for her fit so perfectly on the little shelves.  Someday, when she's taller, we'll probably put a mirror in the center.
Great job, Daddy! What do you think?
Elaina likes it - turns out it makes for good "tunnel" making.
